Oedipus Rex

Oedipus Rex is an explainer video assignment I did at the Fundación de la Universidad del Cine de Buenos Aires (FUC). This was the first group project I had participated in since joining the university. We had been assigned to submit a short video that explained the story of Oedipus Rex, broke down the main concepts of the story, explained narrative tools utilized by the Greeks and compared it to a modern film interpretation of the story. My role in this project was to apply the explained narrative tools utilized by the Greeks to the story of Oedipus Rex; I also did the editing, composition and animation of the full video, bringing together my groups’ audio explanations and bringing them to life through enticing and engaging visuals.

I’m very proud of how this video came out and it helped me learn a lot of motion graphic techniques, my only regret is the quality of my audio recording as I prioritized the teams work over my own.

Lessons Learned:

  • Communication is key to success.
  • Schedules improve teamwork.
  • Editing skills improved. Motion graphics is a powerful tool to convey messages.
  • Record with a better microphone.

This project was filmed during the Covid-19 quarantine (2020). This was a virtual team effort. I performed as Editor, Composer, Animator and Narrator.
